Francesca Caputo

is a Toronto-based artist who has had a passion for art ever since she was little, and an appreciation for all things beautiful. That passion took her to Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts, where she was able to flourish and produce impressive pieces of art. Attending a specialized school continually exposed her to all forms of art, both modern and traditional. It was also there that she developed a love for oil paint and photography, which would soon become integral in her creative process.

  Having an interest in the human figure, Francesca gravitates towards portraiture and often incorporates female figures into her work. She is fascinated by colour and light, and aims to gain a better understanding of their workings through her art. Her attention to detail is evident in her realistic illustrative style, and she specializes in beautiful, ethereal portraits that are full of life. She is also inspired by the sky and clouds, celestial objects, crystals, and flowers, finding beauty in the impermanence and continuity of the natural world.

   Francesca works primarily in oil paint or graphite, which was a favourite medium in her childhood. She also loves to experiment with charcoal, acrylics, gouache, watercolours, and digital mediums.

​

  Her style is influenced by many historical art periods and the techniques that emerged from them, from the Renaissance and Art Nouveau to Impressionism, but Francesca's work exhibits a quality that is uniquely her own.

  She has won several art awards during her time at Wexford, including awards for her work in Life Drawing as well as Illustration and Digital Photography. 

Francesca is always aiming to improve her craft with each new project she attempts, and she will continue to do so as she attends York University in 2016, where she will be studying to obtain a bachelor of fine arts degree.
